Setara Qassim is a senior attorney at Geragos & Geragos, APC. She began her career at Geragos & Geragos exclusively as a criminal defense lawyer whose practice focused on federal and state criminal cases, trials, and post-conviction appeals. Over the years, Ms. Qassim has prioritized her federal practice, handling complex federal criminal matters during their investigation phase, negotiations, and through trial. Ms. Qassim is well versed in handling white-collar cases involving complex financial crimes, fraud, tax, money laundering, sex offenses, trafficking, and international crimes. On the state side, Ms. Qassim has been hugely successful in assisting criminal defense clients who face immigration consequences and deportation to withdraw pleas in prior criminal cases.
Ms. Qassim is an asset to the firm’s crisis management practice involving our firm’s high profile and celebrity clients. Ms. Qassim has successfully represented and has maintained long-term client relations with our firm’s clients in the entertainment, music, sports industries, as well as those in the political sphere.
Since beginning her career in criminal defense, Ms. Qassim has expanded her practice into civil litigation. Ms. Qassim has litigated matters involving employment, sexual harassment, defamation, civil fraud, contract, and environmental law. Ms. Qassim has developed a nuanced understanding of the fuel and biodiesel industry and fuel tax credits and has represented clients in the fuel and biodiesel in civil, administrative, and criminal forums.
Ms. Qassim began her career with Geragos & Geragos as a law clerk during her second year at Loyola Law School.
Ms. Qassim was selected to Super Lawyers Rising Stars for 2019 – 2024 and as a top female white collar criminal defense attorney in California. Ms. Qassim has also been recognized by The National Trial Trial Lawyers top 40 under 40.
Ms. Qassim graduated from Loyola Law School in 2011. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UCLA.
