Victim's family sues city, officers

LOS ANGELES - The family of Michael Cho, the La Habra man shot to death by police on New Year's Eve, filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the city and the unnamed officers involved.

Mark Geragos, attorney for Cho's parents Sungman and Honglan Cho, filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Orange County Superior Court.
The suit alleges negligence and a violation of the younger Cho's civil rights, said Geragos during a press conference in the lobby of the Fine Arts Building in downtown Los Angeles.

He called the shooting of Cho, 25, in a mini-mall parking lot in the 500 block of Whittier Boulevard, "a brutal murder." The two officers shot Cho 11 times.
