Lara Yeretsian practices in the area of Criminal Law with an emphasis on state criminal cases. Born in Lebanon, she has a valued perspective in a functioning justice system and the defense of civil liberties in a free society.
Prior to joining Geragos & Geragos, Ms. Yeretsian gained significant experience in the areas of telecommunications and international law from both a legal journalist’s perspective. Her international law background includes work with the United States House of Representatives, Committee of Commerce, Subcommittee on Telecommunications, Trade and Consumer Protection. In this capacity, she gained insight into issues of international telecommunications, including the privatization of INTELSTAT and copyright compulsory licensing regime for retransmitting broadcast signals. Her interest in criminal and international law stems from having lost her great grandfather and other relatives during the genocide of 1.5 million Armenians at the hands of the Turks in 1915. Her commitment to human rights is a perspective she brought to the California State Bar, International Newsletter where she worked as a reporter on international legal issues. She is also on the board of the Armenian National Committee of America, Western Region, the largest Armenian grass roots organization lobbying for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and advancing issues of interest to Armenian Americans. Fluent in Armenian, Arabic, and Kurdish, and imbued with multi-cultural experience, Mrs Yeretsian brings an invaluable and unique perspective to our criminal practice.
Ms. Yeretsian clerked for Judge Robert M. Takasugi, United States District Court, Central District of California. She also clerked for Judge Bert Glennon of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
